Curiosity Has Gone Hungry
Over the centuries, the secrecy has held us off. Every so often, some thirsty soul so eager to seize this secret treasure has created a fiction to fill this gap in our knowledge.
Knowing that the Great Ones of ancient human society were trained, the lacuna (emptiness) in our knowledge is particularly glaring because our world is so filled with books for self improvement, for training the conscious mind, and for opening the unconscious.
We have to assume that these ancient mystery schools were examples of exquisite teachings.
They took talented young students and turned them into masters of humanity. We revere some of them, Moses, Pythagoras, Hippocrates, and most of all Jesus.
From the little that we know and imagine, it seems that these schools were not known to exist among some of the populace of these countries. They were only rumored. They were sought by people who were already so positioned in society that they could find their way to the hiding places of the great teachers, the priests. Men and women trained separately in most of those schools.
A famous painting remains on the wall of one house that escaped being burned and demolished by lava when the volcano, Vesuvius, erupted all over Pompeii. This painting shows an initiation of women in one of the secret schools of Rome. This may be one of the larger fragments we have. It documents one of the most significant, but hidden, developments of humankind. It was a training that was designed to bring out the highest potentials of human beings, to close the gap between humans and angels. It used the tremendous abyss between the unconscious and conscious for a leap of development.
